What does wetsuit density mean?
Wetsuits are identified by their density or thickness expressed
as 5/3 4/3 3/2 etc. For example, 3/2 has 3mm thickness body
and leg panels, with 2mm thick arms, shoulders, and lower
legs. Having a dual or tri density suit is the best way
to achieve extra heat retention where required without sacrificing
flexibility and performance. The 3mm thickness neoprene
in the body will provide more warmth, and the 2mm arms and
legs ensure freedom of movement is enhanced by the use of
the lighter weight stretchier material. This equates to
a reduction in fatigue, and a warmer longer session. The
thicher the suit the warmer it will be.
